My journey to recovery began by listening to countless stories from others who, like me, struggled with addiction. A common thread ran through many of their experiences: waiting far too long to seek help simply because they didn’t know where to turn or how to find their way to the support they needed. By the time someone reaches that heartbreaking breaking point, they’re often overwhelmed, feeling isolated, weighed down by financial struggles, and disconnected from their loved ones. It’s a moment that feels devastatingly hopeless and achingly lonely.

Those deeply powerful and touching stories inspired me to take action and to create a simple yet transformative solution: offering free rides to detox or rehab for anyone in need, no strings attached. Along this journey, I’ve encountered unexpected challenges, including some resistance from within the local Long Island recovery community itself and even from certain rehab facilities. Despite these hurdles and setbacks, I remain unwavering in my commitment to tearing down barriers. This program exists because I firmly believe that everyone is deserving of help, no matter the obstacles that stand in their way. Bureaucratic red tape and institutional indifference will never deter this mission. Help will always be available for those who need it most.

To spread awareness, I regularly share my personal story at local AA meetings and rehab centers, ensuring that people know support is always just a phone call away. It’s absolutely vital for individuals who are struggling to see a clear, accessible path forward and to know that someone out there is ready and willing to assist them in taking that crucial first step toward recovery and healing.

However, recovery doesn’t end at the doors of a rehab facility. For many individuals, the real challenges begin the moment they leave rehab and face the daunting realities of securing stable housing, finding employment, and reintegrating into society. That’s why I am committed to expanding this mission to address these critical needs, as well.

I am actively collaborating with the Long Island business community to encourage job opportunities for individuals who have successfully completed recovery programs. A steady, reliable job is a cornerstone for rebuilding a stable, fulfilling life, and I am determined to help create those opportunities for individuals who need them most.

Looking toward the future, I have plans to open a FREE sober living residence in the spring of 2028. This residence will provide a safe, supportive environment for 100 recovery graduates, offering them the security and stability they need to focus on maintaining their sobriety and rebuilding their lives without the constant fear of homelessness hanging over them. This facility will be completely free to individual's that have recently completed a 28-day program and are in need of immediate housing. Completely privately funded. 

Everyone deserves a second chance in life. This mission is deeply personal to me, and I am fully committed to making it a reality. To the administrators and public officials who have dismissed or overlooked our efforts: we will not stop. We will continue moving forward with or without your support. True help comes from those who genuinely care and are willing to step up.

At Free Rides 2 Recovery, we are fully dedicated to empowering individuals who are struggling with substance abuse by providing compassionate support and facilitating their paths toward long-term recovery. With our toll-free helpline and user-friendly website, we ensure that individuals ready to begin their journey to recovery have immediate access to resources and assistance. Our incredible team of volunteers offers free and safe transportation to reputable treatment facilities, ensuring that no one is left without access to the care they so desperately need, exactly when they need it most.

But our efforts go far beyond just transportation. Collaborating with businesses in Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties, we actively work to create employment opportunities for individuals in recovery. By partnering with caring local employers, we aim to challenge and combat the stigma surrounding addiction while helping people reintegrate into society with dignity, purpose, and a renewed sense of self-worth.

Our outreach doesn’t end there. We organize vital clothing drives, advocate for safe and affordable housing options, and provide the essential support individuals need as they work to rebuild their lives. Our vision includes the establishment of a compassionate recovery center that can house up to 100 individuals at no cost to them. This center will create a nurturing; healing environment focused on growth and recovery—breaking free from the barriers of profit-driven motives.

We are also deeply engaged with community leaders and local politicians, advocating for policy changes that put the well-being and dignity of individuals in recovery at the forefront. Together, we can reshape the recovery landscape to create hope and opportunity for those who need it most.

The Vision for a Compassionate Recovery Center

The compassionate center at Free Rides 2 Recovery will serve as a safe haven where individuals can find much-needed support, guidance, and resources on their journey toward lasting recovery. This center will not only provide vital assistance but will also foster personal growth and healing, empowering residents to build brighter, more stable futures. Key aspects of the center include:

• Safe Housing: Comfortable, secure accommodations for up to 100 individuals, designed specifically to prioritize residents’ well-being and recovery over profit-driven motives.
• Holistic Support Services: Comprehensive care offerings, including counseling, mental health services, addiction treatment, and life skills training, to address the root causes of addiction and set residents on a path to success.
• Job Readiness Programs: Collaborative initiatives with local businesses to provide job training and readiness programs that prepare residents for meaningful, long-term employment opportunities.
• Life Skills Development: Practical workshops covering financial literacy, communication, and stress management, equipping residents with the tools they need to rebuild their lives with confidence and independence.
• Community Engagement: Opportunities for residents to participate in community service and outreach programs, fostering valuable connections and a renewed sense of purpose in their lives.
• Peer Support Groups: Peer-led sessions that encourage camaraderie, mutual understanding, and encouragement among residents as they navigate their recovery journeys together.
